Frequently Asked Questions

Where was the movie filmed?

This movie was filmed in Tijuana Mexico

The film is fiction, however it is inspired by events attributed to a powerful Mexican drug trafficker named Amado Carrillo Fuentes, popular in the 1980s and 1990s who led the Juárez Cartel and was the nephew of the founder of the Guadalajara Cártel “Don Neto.” He earned that nickname because he used a large fleet of planes to transport tons of cocaine to the United States. It is said that he had surgery on his face to cover his identity and that he died in the operating room. His death sparked theories about whether he is actually still alive.

This film was filmed first, in 1997 and was inspired by the life of drug trafficker Amado Carrillo, however the television series was filmed fifteen years later, in 2013.
